01

Dedicated senior project manager

With more than 15 years of experience in civil construction, every project is planned and overseen by a dedicated senior project manager. That means detailed scoping, cost-efficient design and solutions suited to the site.

02

Treated like our own backyard

We treat every job as if it were our own backyard. That means genuine care in every decision, transparent fixed pricing with no hidden costs, and a finish that matches the vision you had for your yard, backed by our workmanship guarantee.

03

Family-owned, fully accountable

We are a family owned, local business and we project manage every job ourselves. Specialist trades work under our direction when a job calls for them, but the whole project is never handed off to someone else. Fully insured, with a public liability certificate available on request. Local knowledge of Melbourne soil, drainage and council requirements means it is done right the first time.

04

Properly planned, built to last

We plan for what others miss, access, utilities and hidden risks, so there are no surprises mid-job. And what we build is built to last, with a long design life in mind from day one.

The value

What a properly built lawn adds

A well-built lawn improves how the whole property looks, feels and functions. It creates a cleaner presentation and an outdoor space your family can enjoy every day.

A home that presents well

A dense, level lawn gives the whole property a more finished appearance and strengthens its street appeal.

A yard the family actually uses

Kids on the grass instead of inside, and a dog that comes back in clean rather than covered in mud. A lawn built on a proper profile drains, holds its level and takes daily traffic without going bare.

A lawn built for the years ahead

Good preparation helps your lawn establish properly and perform for years. Get the excavation, soil and drainage right at the beginning, and you reduce the risk of having to replace it later.

A home that looks cared for

A clean edge and an even green front lawn help the property look cared for before anyone reaches the door.

The process

Cheap lawns are expensive

Every installation is planned around the applicable requirements and standards set by the relevant local council. The work is managed by a senior project manager with more than 15 years of experience in civil construction. We source fresh turf and soil from suppliers who provide product certification. The ground is then excavated, graded and prepared to give the new lawn the right base for healthy establishment.

This is different from laying turf over rushed excavation, old roots or an inadequate layer of topsoil. Those shortcuts may not be visible on installation day, but they can lead to weeds, uneven growth and the cost of replacing the lawn later. The condition of the ground matters as much as the turf laid on top.

Four steps, in order

While the ground is open

Irrigation costs a fraction now and a fortune later

There is one moment when running irrigation is simple, and that is while the old ground is out and the trenching is open. Doing it later means lifting a lawn you have just paid for.

A lawn that waters itself survives the summer you forget about it. Mention irrigation at the consultation and we will scope it in. If you do not want it, we will not raise it again.

Common questions

What homeowners ask us first

What turf should I choose?

It comes down to four things: how much shade the yard gets, whether dogs and children will be on it, how hard it will be used, and how much mowing and feeding you want to take on. Shaded yards need a broader-leaf variety that holds colour with less sun, full sun yards can take a faster-growing, harder-wearing grass, and low-maintenance preferences point to a variety that grows slower and needs cutting less often. We look at your sunlight, drainage and how the lawn will be used, then advise on the right variety at the consultation.

What turf is best for dogs and children?

Both Sir Walter Buffalo and Kikuyu suit family backyards. Kikuyu handles high traffic best because it grows fast and repairs itself after wear. Sir Walter is durable too, with a softer feel underfoot and better performance where there is some shade. Sunlight and how heavily the lawn gets used decide which one we recommend.

What if access to my yard is tight?

Tight access is normal in established suburbs. We check it before we quote, then bring in the largest machine that fits and barrow the rest. Where nothing can get through, we excavate by hand and carry the soil and turf in. The method does not change and neither does the result.

What areas do you service?

We lay turf across metro Melbourne, with most of our work in the eastern suburbs and Bayside: Toorak, Canterbury, Brighton, Kew, Camberwell, Hawthorn, Balwyn, Malvern and Glen Iris. We also work regularly through Ivanhoe, Eaglemont, Templestowe and Doncaster. If you are outside those areas, ask us when you enquire.

How long until I can walk on my new lawn?

Keep traffic to a minimum while the roots take hold. Rather than counting days, wait until the turf feels firmly anchored and can no longer be lifted at the edges. Until then, keep children, pets and heavy foot traffic off it as much as you can. We leave you a simple watering plan for those first few weeks.
