Mount Waverley is postwar brick on a range crest. The A.V. Jennings estates filled the declared brick area around the railway station through the 1950s, and the Pinewood estate on Blackburn Road followed as a single Jennings release late in the decade, so whole streets share one era, one setback and one pattern of fall. Under them the ground is mottled orange yellow clay of the Brighton Group over folded Silurian rock: it holds water, it moves as it dries and it erodes once it is left bare. Damper Creek Conservation Reserve carries a 1.5 km bushland strip through 11 hectares north of the station, and the valley to the south holds a linear reserve and flood retarding basins, which tells you exactly where your water is trying to go. We set levels and drainage to suit that, then lay turf on a base built to stay put. We also install turf across nearby Glen Waverley and Ashwood, and design the rest of the garden through our landscaping in Mount Waverley.
