Natural Turf.
Real grass, chosen for the house it sits behind. Sir Walter Buffalo and other varieties matched to the light your garden truly gets, which under the established trees behind a bungalow is usually less than it looks. Then the base that keeps it healthy for years.
Artificial Turf.
Synthetic turf for the places grass has no chance: a shaded side return between two 1920s houses, or a small courtyard behind a period cottage. The same rule holds. The base and the drainage decide whether it stays flat, drains fast and lasts. Ours do.

Fairfield was largely built out between the 1900s and the 1930s, and the streets still show it: Victorian and Edwardian cottages, California bungalows, and newer townhouses filling the gaps. That era set a pattern we plan around. Shallow front lawns behind low fences, rear yards shaded by trees with a century of growth in them, and side access often too tight for a machine, which means base material comes through by barrow and the lawn still gets the full preparation. Towards the southern edge the ground falls away to the Yarra and the parkland, so drainage leads the job there. Can you get turf into a narrow Fairfield block?
Usually yes. Cottages and bungalows from this era were built with side access barely wider than a path, so we work the run out before we quote. Where a machine will not fit, soil and base material go through by barrow and the lawn still gets the same preparation.
